I have a fairly small dels that seems to be growing external gills. Now when I got it at 3" it didn't have any external gills but now they seem to be growing longer and longer. Anyone know if possibly all of my bichirs will grow them back? The bichirs are in my 48"L x 18"W grow out tank with 3 AC70's and two aero 4 for aeration. The dels with the external gills is closer to 5" now.

I have endi's that also have external gill when they were small, it does go away once they reach a certain size.

they dont completely disappear they just shrink due to the bad water conditions etc etc at the LFS. back at home, water conditions better etc etc gills re-extend.

My delhezi also have its external gills grow back it is currently at 5” and the weird thing is that the gills only grew at the right side. Here is a pic.
Ya he’s doing great, he’s about 10” now and 1” around. I wouldn’t worry, they should go away. I actually posted about this too when it happened. Kinda had me worried, but everyone told me not to worry and they were right.
