Anyone ever heard of a Jardini and African Cichlid setup?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, under the following circumstances:

The Africans were intended to be feeders
The Africans were much larger than the Jardini
It was only very short term
The tank was abnormally large and the owner didn't care about/know how many fish he or she had.
Someone is a liar
The Jardini was sick
The .0001 chance that the jardini was tame and peaceful played out in their favor.

OR

It was a gigantic species of African Cichlid that killed the Jardini first.

Uhh.. Does that mean that the africans have no chance in hell, even if they're the same size as the arowana??

4" jardini vs 4" african, the african will win. However, that's comparing apples to oranges. If the jardini is full size along with a full size African cichlid, the tables would most likely turn.

With a large amount of rock work I'm sure the african cichlids could stay away from a large jardini. Occasionally he will catch one though. Gonna take a very large tank.

Ok I think I undestood everything but the "someone is a Liar bit"? :grinno:

So then I could put a 5" Jardini into a 125 gal tank with 10 african Cichlid rock dwellers of the same size or smaller, without any harm comming to my Jardini? I don't really care for the Africans all that much.My main concern is that my africans don't hurt or kill My Jardini the Africans can die for all I care. :headbang2

extremely large tank and a but load of africans!

IMO, keep them separate. They just don't even look good together.

(I threw the liar bit out for anyone who might have claimed it without having it work)
