It's crap, don't buy it.
Cat Litter then (AquariumPlants.com's own) then Fluorite


I would buy the Black Fluorite or the Eco complete.
 
The flourite red is also very good
 
ok, i just got back from the lfs with 1 bag of eco complete, and 2 bags of flourite. i plan on layering the substrate for the tank. at the moment, im thinking putting a very thin layer of the old substrate i had in my 40g at the bottom, then eco complete, and then top off with flourite. should i? or is there another method that could be more beneficial for my plants??
 
55g, but i separated the tank into 3 sections on the bottom. the back left and right corners are each thier own section about 4" tall. i wanted the middle of the tank to be open for fish to come out and feed and plant all the plants in the left and right side only. i will have pics after i finish so you guys can have an idea of what im talking about...

any advice for me on substrate layering? should i have the eco-complete in the middle or mix it together with the flourite?
