Anyone feed NLS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Is there a specific NLS pellet you recommend for certain types of plecos? I'm up for trying to switch my royal over to NLS but not sure if Thera A would be best or another formula.

Rampage - I would simply recommend matching the pellet to the size of the fishes mouth. My 9-10" goldie will eat anything, from 3mm all the way up to the 10mm. Pellets, wafers, doesn't seem to much matter. Same with all of my friends plecos, they seem to go after it all.

Aquamonster - what are you talking about? Your friend fed his common pleco whole pieces of fish?

Honestly, I can't hold anyones hand & show them exactly how to train a fish, if your fish won't eat brand x then feed something else. lol Why come in to the OP's thread & piss & moan about what your fish won't eat?

<---------- see the Channa in my avatar, even they were easily trained to eat NLS pellets.

My plecos love NLS. I have an albino bristlenose and a rhino and they come out as soon as the sinking pellets hit the surface of the water. They took to it right away.

I'm not complaing about my fish not eating nls. I feed my fish hikari and omega one. Yes he fed his fish chunks of fish. I'm also not asking how to train a fish as its pretty common sense. If anything the thread is a waste because there's probly dozens on this very supject. Sorry to the OP for side tracking the thread when my post weren't meant too.

My plecs love nls! As soon as it hits the water they come out of hiding and devour it!

Exactly what mine do haha like sharks when blood hits the water I love throwing a hand full in and then standing back and watching all the plecos come out of hiding my royals are always first on scene haha they are definitely the fattys of my pleco tank

LMAO, so much so that you not only opened it & read it, but then commented about your friends fish eating common pleco that you babysat for a few weeks. Only on MFK ..........

As stated previously, I know people that import plecos from South America several times a year, probably thousands of plecos over the years, and all of them are fed NLS when they land. The following is a direct quote from one of those importers;

On another note I have found that the tiny TherA pellets are the finest pleco food. It really helps with the acclimation and long term storage of these fish. Since switching to strickly feeding these to all the plecos including vegetarians I would estimate that losses are down at least 30 - 40 percent on newer arrivals.
