...so I was at the local Asian store and saw that they sell dried seaweed in sheets. It was actually pretty cheap.

This is the kind used to wrap sushi (called Nori, I believe) and could easily be crushed into bite-sized pieces for fish.

Anyone use this? Seems like a good and relatively inexpensive way to feed veggie food (without all of the fillers in veggie fish food)...

Matt

I thought about doing the same thing after noticing the Nori sheets in the grocery store. They basically look the same as the seaweed sheets that are sold in LFS. I don't think it would be harmful to the fish. The Nori that I saw had no added ingredients either. I think my Synspilum and Fenestratus would enjoy it. Let us know if you try it too.

It was a popular food back in the early 90's among authors in AFM.

the nori sold in food stores is the same thing as the seaweed sold in pet stores, just check the food store seaweed(nori) carefully as some are "flavored"/"seasoned" and wont be good to use and some are roasted and not good but the unflavored/seasoned ones that are sun dried (dried) are good as long as they are NOT roasted and are NOT seasoned flavored us salty guys use it all the time for our salty fishies

...of course I have the roasted...not seasoned though. What's the difference (both in terms of palatability for fish and humans)?

Thanks,
Matt

roasted = less nutirant value due to the heat process and also some rasting processes actually add things to the nori such as seasonings exct with out listing them as "seasoned"... check around in diffrent grocery stores you will find the dried/unseasoned..heck if i can find it in my town (across the street from the middle of nowhere known as never will be anywhere) every town will have it its just finding which store carries it....
