I feel like Christmas has lost its true meaning of holyness and religion...
I have some reasons why

-Christmas has been turned into those holidays where it is just SHOP, SHOP, AND SHOP! People care more about presents and become misled about the meaning of Christmas

-No one really goes Caroling... I think

-Kids seem to understand that Santa is imaginary at a younger age

-The only time Christmas is talked in religious terms is in church

Anyone feel that way or is it just me?

Im an athiest, i dont care what "supposedly" happened.

I dont like SHOP, SHOP SHOPPING either...

I like just being with all the relatives and having a great meal!

he wasn't born in april, he rose from the dead in april.

you are indeed correct. But why is it impossible to die in the same month you were born?
The Bible itself tells us that December 25 is an unlikely date for His birth. Palestine is very cold in December. It was much too cold to ask everyone to travel to the city of their fathers to register for taxes. Also the shepherds were in the fields (Luke 2:8-12). Shepherds were not in the fields in the winter time. They are in the fields early in March until early October. This would place Jesus' birth in the spring or early fall. It is also known that Jesus lived for 33 years and died at the feast of the Passover, which is at Easter time.

I'm not religious at all but if you're going to claim to be religious sometimes you just need to research what it is you believe in.

I would agree with your last statement, and I argue it quite frequently, (just from the other side of the fence) but in this situation I think that even the most uninformed could easily show that while you are right in that Jesus was probably not born on Christmas (and the Bible doesnt say he was), that doesnt change the origin of why this Holiday was(and is) celebrated in this country. It was undoubtedly in remembrance of Jesus Christ. Also I think you are right in your statement about Jesus being "allowed" to be born and His death being in the same month, although I dont think he was really saying that wasnt true. I dont know if I am missing one of your points though. The last one about Jesus being 33 and the significance of Passover in regards to Easter, are you using this to support your first argument (about Christmas), or was it just an added piece of information? That is fine if thats it, I just didnt quite follow.

Im a hardcore athiest, and proud of that fact I guess one would say. "Jesus" as most other religious figures have the born on december 25th brithdate. I dont celebrate xmas for the religous aspect whatsoever. Its an excuse to buy my friends/family something ill think theyll like and spend some time with them, thats really it. My friends and I have out own little xmas dinner and things at somebodys house....we have a nice dinner, exchange gifts, watch some kind of random tv thing, drink a little and play a board game or two. Its a nice day, and everybody gets warm and fuzzy for that time and we all re-affirm the fact that we do actually care about each other despite the other 364 days a year of being a dick to each other ;) its all in good fun tho.

Don't get me wrong I love christmas too.. for all the wrong reasons =] presents, NO SCHOOL, snow, fun, hang with family and friends.

I just think it loses its religious purpose year after year

and I heard the same thing.. that jesus wasnt born in dec but sometime in spring? or much later than dec

I think it sucks that Christmas has lost it's meaning....I mean, not just the religious aspect of it, but the goodwill feeling is no longer there. Less people put up lights now, less people decorate, less people carol....everything is becoming to much of a marketing gimmick to make people shop...>This is no kindred spirit any more......I mean, it's not just christmas, all of the hollidays are losing their feel.....Holloween, shoot, kids don't even dress up anymore, less people give out candy.......Thanksgiving is never gonna change, cuz everyone loves turkey but it doesnt mean anything, Easter isn't what it was...there are no more egg hunts and all that.....Simply, the American Culture is changing, but don't blame the corporations, we are allowing this to happen by no longer doing what our parents did for us...make the hollidays special....make the feel special and especially if you have kids, celebrate them, no matter your religon that way future genterations still take the time to enjoy this time of year, watching a Christmas Story and all that..........Alright, rant over.

I agree with every word.. ALL Holidays are changing! Halloween... just a reason for stupid kids to go egg bombing houses and girls wear s1&tty costumes

I loved egg hunts... but they stopped...

Soon, it will be all technology and holidays will be like robot operated haha just a guess

I too am an atheist, but still enjoy getting together with family and friends around the holidays and giving gifts especially to all the children. Just an excuse to eat, drink, and act goofy in my opinion.
