Anyone fight plakats?(bettas)

i didnt know they fought to the death, if thats the case then never mind. i was told they just flare up and do their threat displays then will circle eachother for a while trying to nip eachothers fins. sorry to seem so stupid.
I saw some actual fighting fish for sale at a pet shop in china town. Those fish are vicious. Poor things are "trained" to fight by pissing them off with some type of prod.
bettas dont fight to the death. they are kept in small bowls so there is no room for the loser to escape so he inadvertently gets killed.
bettas can be kept together in large tanks with visual barriers. they set up territories. their aggression is heavily over hyped

Agreed. For most argumentative males, a little room to flee is all it takes to break off the attack. There are always exceptions, especially with a species long bred for intense aggression. It's when humans put them into small containers that things get really ugly. But don't bother trying to cohab male plakats. They will go at it so fast you'll wonder if either one even thought about retreating.
