you shouldn't feed live food. most small serras make a living off of eating scales and fins of other fish. you should try to feed small pieces of raw fish that has a white flesh, and shrimp.

Who ever told you 29gallon are good for life is not true. Irritan is the smallest piranha but if you want him to grow bigger and be active of course you want bigger tank for him.
IMO 55-75gallon are good for life, not 29gallon.

Also you need to feed him a stable diet such as
raw shrimp
clams
fish talapia
pellets
scallops

stay away from live feeder or food.

Feed him once a day with small portion because he not big enough to eat a lot. change the diet every week, if he don't eat keep feeing him. Piranha can go without food for a very long time, he will eat when he is ready, just keep feeding different diet every week.

the smallest tank in my opintion that should be used (for adult specimins) or sanchezi or irritans are tank that are atleast 3 ft long and 1 ft wide

also 2 months isnt really long to adjust
ive had my sanchezi for 3.5 months and just recently he is slowly starting to be more active

wanna know what will get his ass going? Get a bigger tank and toss another type of piranha in with him. . . .. then you will see what he's made of ! ha ha ha i had a Irritans in with a few reds in a 150 and that fish was a true killer! Did i mention GET A BIGGER TANK!

you could try a powerhead if you dont already have one since this will make him more active speed his motablisim so he will grow faster be healthier be eating more
