Anyone Have a Dovii from Lake Arenal???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If they're F1, what were the source of the parents? Pics of them?

Matt

I just bought a pair from Jeff, and he sent me a couple pics but that was just a couple. I've googled them and came up with some more pics, but we all know how Google is when it comes to fish pics and they aren't really able to distinguish the difference between most fish.

From the pics Jeff showed and the one or two I saw on Google, they seem to be big bodied and have really nice colors. But I still would like to see more for better comparison. I know either way it is still a Dovii nonetheless, but I'm interested in the finer details:)

I found this on Google and it led me back to an MFK thread I can't find it now ill keep looking it was a member on here that took those pics with a dslr

I think this may be a good oportunity for somebody to make a thread with pictures of a typical specimen from each collection point. It would be helpful to people trying to find out what the differences are between them.

Example:

Nicaraguan:

Costa Rican:

Arenal:

Etc...

they look like what i would call a 'normal' dovii. i prefer the heredia strain i like the yellow on the females and the golden blue males

the nicaraguan dovii seem really blue/green/grey
heredia golden yellow/blue
arenal blue/tan/bronze

when i got them, they seemed to have a greenish tint. I have an f1 rio heridia female that is a little bigger than the one Jeff sent me so i swapped females for time being to see how things would turn out. So far she does alot better job dealing with the male than the smaller one. I too like the colors on the heridia females better than the others but each individual fish has their own potential. I really like Dovii and new that i would have them again real soon;) ill get some pics up soon. right now theyre not showing any color, mostly look like juvinile or sub dom coloration. i do have them divided so they should start showing some interest or coloring up soon.
