I think you guys need to do a little bit of a breeding project and sell me some fry :)

That raises a question.... If I bred my gold with a reg male, would I have any gold fry? Or do I need two gold to reproduce a gold? Break out your Punnet squares people.

Well, your gold JD is GG for the gold trait, and a normal JD would be gg, so if you bred them together you would get all Gg's, normal looking JD's with the gold gene. If you breed the offspring with each other, you should get 25% GG (gold JD's), 50% Gg (Normal JD's with gold genes), and 25% gg (normal JD's with no gold genes). Yay 2nd period biology!

Correct, but in genetics we use a capital letter for dominant, and lower case for recessive. So, techincally GG is normal and gg is gold, but it's all ambiguous, you get the same results. Whatever works I guess!

The best would be to breed an offspring back to the gold parent, because then you'd be breeding gg X Gg and you'd end up with 50% gg and 50% Gg. So half gold and half normal.
