Thanks for sharing! He/she is freakin huge! They sure do loose their pattern with age but I still like them a lot. Maybe if you bred them with another, prettier, breed of ray you might get something cool!

Has anyone ventured a guess as to what kills them off, do you think it is a water quality issue, food deficiency or other?

I spoke to a guy who runs a lfs and he lost one very unexpectedly and I respect him as a brilliant fish keeper and he thought it was down to a dodgy batch of fresh fish from a supermarket but I think he may be wrong.

It would be good to know if people had been feeding heavily after a large water change perhaps? There seems to be a common advice of frequent / large water changes and I lost a tank full of Fry once through over feeding following a 50% water change and the same guy mentioned above thinks that water / filters may have a weak period following large changes and takes time to recover therefore we should ease back feeding.

Makes sense that if fish can be shocked or harmed by temp / ph and chlorine fluctuations then so can the filter bac?
