Going to be adding a 3 GPH Drip system to my 1500 gallon tank to allow for an automatic 25% water change per week.

Question is do these drip emitters clog and/or need cleaning?

I am trying to make this so I know it's always working without needed constant attention.

And yes I will be adding a carbon block filter to the drip line to remove chlorine and chloramine.

I don't have any experience, but I would guess they would need occasional servicing, but not daily attention. Over time they'll probably get deposit buildups from the water dripping through them, but it should be a simple matter of just running something through them to clear any debris out. Or at least that's what I think.

curious to see how this works, I thought about just trying it to see what would happen, but i decided not to play around too much.

just finished with one on my 300. im using a float valve instead of a drip emiter. and to control the flow im using a ball valve. currently been set up for about 5 days no issues. For safe practice im going to check valves and connections once every two months. dont think you need to do much more than that.

I bought my emiiters by the bag. I think I have are 150 of them. If you filter the water before the emitter, you will be fine for a long time. I generaly replace mine every 6 months or so, but I have had no clogging.

i just use ball valves

i check the flow once a week to make sure it stays consistant

also a drip is not the same as waterchanges since its constantly diluting ur water not actually replacing it. u will just need to have it on higher then u think

there is a chart somewhere, ill see if i can find it

i use a drip irrigation pre-filter, works great. got it at lowes for about $10

also, be sure to get emitters that have a removeable top for cleaning. youll be glad you did
