Hey guys just got my Thai blue silk
I know they’re not the most sought after but I really like them
Anyone else keeping them
Let see some pics

I’ve been keeping him alone currently in 40 gallon breeder future plan will be 60-100 gallon
Currently
No gravel
Hob +sponge filter
Uv sterlizlier
Water temp at 82-83
Doing 5% water changes 1-2 days just to pull out his daily waste
Been happy taking frozen hikari blood worms and hikari pellets

I’m trying to get him to grown to his potential any advice is appreciated

5% is nothing and if you are willing to do water changes that often I would do a 50% water every 2-3 days. Once he starts to outgrow this tank when he reaches about 6-8 inches I would upgrade to a 75 gallon. I would upgrade your filtration as a single HOB won’t do all that much especially if it’s only the recommended one for your tank size. Maybe add an aqua clear 70 along with the current HOB and sponge filter. No need for bloodworms that will just cause more digestive issues. I would also bring the water temp down to 78-80.

Thanks for the reply I had read your other reply and thought it was very helpful
I’m trying to learn as much as I can about keeping fh and I’ve been talking and meeting local people to me and
I’ve found a few different opinions on the temp
I’ve always felt 76-82 was ideal usually (80 being target )
But I’ve found a few guys who keep
Fh to recommend a higher temp at 85-86
Have you or any one else kept there fish at this temp ? I’ve read about the pro and Cons of higher water temp so just curious for the sake of discussion
As far as food if blood worms could cause digestive issues
How about other worms such as mealworm or night crawlers???
I was also told the occasion bloodworms would be ok so I’m just trying to figure is the difference advice I hear just personal preferences? Any bad experience with higher temps and frozen worm ?

Thanks for the help and advice
