Anyone have experience with Bullheads?

I've had both really skittish and really outgoing bullheads. Not sure if just a case of "it depends on the fish" but generally the ones I caught at the smallest sizes acclimated to the tanks better and were out more.

With good water quality and feeding they should get to 15" or so and very thick and heavy. I've never found them to be nippy but they will defend themselves when pushed.

I have 4 yellow bullheads. I wouldn't say they are agressive but the two large ones (13") will not be bullied from their spots either. They all eat anything I put in the tank, from pellets to shrimp. Two of them are active through out the day and night while the other two are only active at night. Never had a problem with fin nipping and have kept them with all kinds of sunfish and SA's.

I belive a black bullhead looks how a catfish is pictured in many ppls minds lol, Ive raised them for years and know they will acclimate nicely when introduced at an early age, lol you can train them like many other fish to be hand fed i luvs em and think everybody should have atleast one or two

bullheads i find are not bad fin nippers and a foot long bully would be a monster lol, in my experiance they are sum of the best cats to keep in a comunity tank

out of a clean adirondack NY lake they taste great..
