Anyone have experience with kens fish food?

my catfish wont eat the catfish pellets, LOL
other than that i love the price, and the fish have come around to it (i think it was weird for them in the beginning b/c its a little harder than normal pellets)

I recently ordered about $50 worth of food about a week ago. A little bit of everything. I find the vegetable items to be very messy. The mini disks, and the 5 cichlid blend etc.

This might be because, i have 2 inch fish feeding on them, and they can't eat them whole. However, I don't have this problem nearly as much with hikari bio gold etc.

I'm not saying the food is bad for the fish, just that is is messy for my water compared to other foods I have been feeding. I do think however, once my fish can eat everything whole, it'll be cleaner I hope.

It should be less messy once your fish can swallow it whole. As I mentioned my birchirs (4x 5-6 inches long) swallow the 5.0mm soft/moist krill whole and its not messy at all. I also have some other larger bichirs, 6x 9-11 inches that each about 10-20 each whole and not messy at all.

The earth worm sticks and veggies sticks can get a little messy but this can be from them the larger birchirs and a chocolate cichlid (7-8 in) breaking them apart. My tank clears up though in about 30-45 mins (running 2x XP3's, AC110, and a Seio 1500gph pump on a 180gal bare bottom).

I love it the 9.5mm non fouling pellets rock. and you can't beat the price.

Have you compared them to the large floating Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets? Would you say they are larger or smaller than the large Cichlid Gold?

Thanks.

Thanks.

the new 9.5mm pellet he has is close to the size of a dog food kibble. its MUCH larger than the cichlid gold. the 7.5mm are comparable to hikari gold from what i remember of them :)

i JUST opened my box from kensfish after typing the last post.

he has new "freeze dried freshwater shrimp" thats between the size of krill and plankton. the price however and the quantity are amazing. an 1/8 pound for $5 comes equals about a ziplock sandwich baggie STUFFED with the shrimp. cant really beat that what so ever i dont think :D
