Anyone have experience with siren lacertina?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have no problems feeding nightcrawlers with my fingers, that's how I feed my catfish currently. I'll also probably let a colony of shrimp establish itself in the tank before introducing the siren, so if nothing else it can catch a few of those every once in a while as well. That's a good tip on the filter inlet, I wouldn't have thought of that on my own. One last question - where did you get yours at? Can you suggest where I could find a greater for a decent price?

Thanks for all your info, this has been extremely informative!

I've gotten mine from other hobbyists. Some vendors have sirens every once in a while, but you're more likely to find them by checking the classifieds on places like kingsnake.com and caudata.org. Be aware that almost all sirens in the pet trade are wild-caught.

Will do. Again, thanks for all of your info! When you get the chance, please post pics of the final setup for the greater siren too!

I will, though it'll be a while. I'm going to build them a riparium in the fall; until then they're staying in the previous owner's tank.
