Scott what are you feeding them ? Just curious on your strategy of getting them off worms if you did.

I fed chopped night crawlers mixed with chopped market shrimp. They took to it almost immidiately. Now all eat worms, shrimp, and talipia. Honestly, I think both Pearl's converted to frozen food and ate better than both my Motoro's. Competing with the Motoro's at feeding time may have helped them learn.

how can you tell when they are about 6-8" if they turn dark or light? i really like the light coloerd ones!!

I'm sure individuals vary in color, but like others have said, rays are predatory/ambush hunters that rely on camaflouge. So they lighten or darken with their surroundings (light/dark colored substrate).
