Anyone Have Rats?

Actually, they're domesticated. Wild ones are considered pests.
 
OK, the rat expert is here. (rallysb1tch)
The medicine that we got for our rats is Doxycycline, and it is actually meds for respiratory infections in birds. (the vet said its ok for rats)
The one for small animals is Baytril.

Wow, that really sucks, I'm sorry.
Many rats have respiratory problems. It is often a combination of several pathogens including: mycoplasma, CAR bacilli, carini virus..... These combine to create CMRD (chronic murine respiratory disorder).
I am very sorry that you had to euthanize your pet, but rats make wonderful pets. Don't let this put you off, just accept it as part of rat ownership.

I like rats too, they make good pets:)

That is very true. We had one that was about 4...it would come to its name like a dog lol.
