Any body have any tips for a new fisherman? Anything lol if it's how to fish for a certain fish our what lures work for what... I have no one to get fishing info from lol just anything a new fisherman should know

Oh I'm in michigan and would really just like to catch anything besides the million of bluegills I always catch lol... But largemouth bass and perch...

go to a local tackle shop and ask some questions there. you have trout and salmon up there too. Theres too many options to give you a list. Millions of things you can try. Try a variety and decide what works for you.

The best thing you can probably do is find a fishing forum based in michigan. Introduce yourself, maybe try to find someone who will go fishing with you. Don't just start asking where to fish, that can irritate some of the more knowledgeable people lol.

I will try both of those ideas.. I trend to irritate people with my lack of knowledge lol but I really want to learn that fishing forum idea sounds good though

A couple tips for posting on fishing forums...
Don't talk about specific locations. It can take a lot of work to find honey holes, and people can get pretty protective, because it really doesn't take much to ruin a good spot. Pm's are the best way to learn about specific spots.
Don't post pictures of dead fish, many people don't like seeing these, even if they keep fish themselves. Strongly consider catch and release, especially with bigger fish. Research selective harvest.
Don't just ask questions, contribute to the site. Post some pictures (see above lol) and share stories. Fishermen can be tight-lipped, and many aren't willing to give just anyone their tips.
And this applies to every forum...spend some time looking through the site before you post anything. Look for questions/topics that come up a lot. People don't like answering the same questions over and over again, so try not to be "that guy" lol. Also look at how the site is generally ran. Some forums are a little more "outspoken" while others are more reserved. Punctuation is important too.

Local shops can be a great source of info. Buying some gear will often get you better advice lol. And as stated, go fishing! You will learn the most by spending time on the water.
