How do you like them? Aggressive?

No response in general aquaria so maybe this is the spot to ask: How do you guys like them? Aggressive?

They hide all of the time (when they are small atleast) Boring IMO.

I have a little 8" fire eel. Hangs out in his cave most of the time watching the world go. pretty much what I expected from a eel. I bought him because I think it adds a unique effect to my tank. Don't buy one if you are looking for a aggressive monster due to the fact that most eels are passive.

i think fire eels are asome in due the size they get trust my a full grown one is asome iv had mine an he hides some times but is out looking for food most they will eat anything that will fit in there mouth. there is one that gets like 12in but is a aggressive predetor it comes from one of the cichlid lakes i think lake tanginika or some thing and called by scinintific name is Caecomastacembelus plagiostomus.

Mine is'nt hiding at all, it shows up when i'm closing the tank and wants some food. He actually either eat from my hand than catch that I give them. When it is foodtime, he also shows up and "dances" for something to eat.

Had a bit of experience with them, they really are an awesome fish, very interesting to watch. Not an aggresive fish at all but they can get to a fair size and like any fish will eat whatever fits in their mouths.

they can get aggressive towards other spiny eels. just like other fish, aggresive for territory but once that's taken care of, provided with space and with enough cave dwellings and hiding places they'll co-exist. nocturnals but can condition to come out during the days. mostly shy but my fire eel is always out and very active. love' em. i only have one now but thinking of getting a couple more :)
