Anyone here bow fish?

Many roughfish are not easy fish for and they are not targeted by anglers. They do need be managed just like gamefish. Bullheads, suckers, drums and gars can easily over run some lakes and in some cases we have to come and remove them out of the lake to just reduce their numbers and also complaints. I've do lot of carp/pest fish removal few years ago. Common carps can be bad and problematic as Asian carps in many lakes/rivers.

I'm pretty sure only fish considered as "trash" can be shot, Most of which are invasive

No such thing as trash fish, people that call any fish trash fish are uneducated and don't know how to fish for that particular species or they interfere with their "favorite" species of fish while fishing which then they call them trash. Man I hate that word.......

So do I man, it's still a Live animal regardless of how it came into the country etc. Not the fishes fault.

I have this same problem. I bow hunt deer, turkey, coyotes and have wanted to try bowfishing for a while now. But after reading up on what species you can take I find myself wanting to shoot, but not wanting to waste. A lot of bow fishermen shoot carp and then go bury them in a field or garden which is fine by me.

But my gut feeling is that is a waste. I don't have a garden and I'm not going to shoot a bunch of carp just to kill them and go bury them in a ditch somewhere.... just feels wrong... :/

My opinion though.

I live in a small state where a group of bow fisherman have done a good number on koi that have been let go into local waters and plus carp which will help other native fish flourish. Carp will muscle their way right onto a fish bed and eat all the eggs so carp taken here and there doesn't hurt. Plus they are oily fish which end up as great fertilizer. Don't know many who eat them but I know they are sold in Asian markets but at least here you can bow fish other stuff but there isn't really any catch in release when it comes to bow fishing. Asian carp bow fishing looks crazy though!

Common carps and Asian carps should've had stay at home. I can name many lakes that need to do a carp removal or allowing commercial fishermen to take them to manage carp populations.

three private lakes in St. Cloud but good luck to get the owner's permission. Huge gars in there and some medium nose gars too.
