Anyone Here Keep Esox Lucius ( Pike )

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pike are awesome fish to keep! My LFS guy has one in one of their tanks... its his personal baby, every time i go there i beg him to feed it. Its so cool to watch. as soon as he opens the tank lid the pike comes to the surface and keeps it head right under where his hand is... as soon as it hits the water he launches on it. really cool to watch cuz the fish he feeds it are malawi cichlids so they are usually quite a large bite for it so u egt to watch it scarf it down hole. also sometimes hell throw in a few goldfish and ill just and watch it hunt, as long as it knows the fish are in there it will stalk them untill its got it in its mouth. Ive been meaning to make a video of it, I might drive there tomorow to buy some more food for my fishies, if i do ill make a video and post it!

One of my local hunting and sporting goods store has about a 30'' pike in a 300 or so tank. They have it with a couple large mouth bass, a bull head, some crappie and a giant sunfish.

It doesn't really swim a whole lot considering the tank is to small for it. It just mostly hovers in the corner and the only time it is really active is when they feed the tank. There a cool fish, but you do need a really large tank for them.

i am toying with the idea of a cold warter tank i have a empty 8*3*3 in my garage. dont know what to do with it ??

i think it would look cool in the garden with a big fat pike in it:drool:

i'm not 100% on this but i think Enviroment Agency Law prohibit's the private sale of Esox Lucius in the UK , i think you can only trade in these fish if your a fishery owner.

like i said not 100% i'll try and look into it for you, and if anything i could catch you a few Jack Pikes like these ones i caught not long back
