I would recommend that the order be place for any day OTHER THAN a Saturday should the shipment get delayed or lost.... might be until Monday that you'll see your fish! I'll watch this order from the sidelines.... got too much going on to order fish right now. GL fellas.

me too.. i'm going to bite the bullet and order some fish from Jeff Rapps if the group order thing happens.

i'll be spending somewhere around $150 for the fish i want.. that's a pretty good chunk towards the discount @ $500.

and if we know what day it is ahead of time i'll take the day or part of the day off work so John doesn't get stuck babysitting my fish again.. lol.

i would like to propose this ... i will have the fish delivered to my door on a saturday (rapps doesn't charge extra for saturday delivery AND there is a $25 airport cargo fee) ... i will deliver the fish to everyone who participates in this group buy (i will have some right to veto potential buyers if i am getting a ridiculously long route delivering fish on a saturday) ... i want to be compensated for gas ($2.45/gallon for super-unleaded) and time ($20/hour of driving based on the map length at 50 mph) (i will map out the route and estimated time and give you the total cost to be divvied equally among everyone else (but remember we don't pay $25 airport cargo fee) so everyone has right to agree to the cost) and i will DELIVER to your door your fish on saturday ... if you are down w/this, pm me your order and address, i will calculate the cost of your fish (hopefully including 10% discount b/c i think we will have over $500 in aggregate orders), your cut of rapps shipping cost (divided equally among all of us), and your cut of my delivery fee (divided equally among the rest of you). let's say the deadline for your order is by this sunday 8 pm, i will respond to you by monday 8 pm (after vetting availability w/rapps and his exact shipping charge) and you will paypal my wife's account by tuesday 8 pm and i will order w/in that hour and deliver next saturday. cool?
 
adjustment to the above: assuming rapps will give us the aggregate discount (i will ask the q to him if enough are down), sean/house_64 suggested we should each individually paypal or cc rapps for the fish, i will ask rapps to bill me for the shipping (and 2.5% charge for using cc), and i will expect everyone to pay me equally for shipping and my delivery fee when i deliver their fish. that way we don't pay two pay-pal fees. if people are down w/this, still pm me your order, name, phone, and address, and i will start this process w/rapps assuming same deadlines i set above.
 
if anyone is wary of my delivery fee, think about it this way, i am guessing the entire route is no more than 150 miles = 3 hours of my time = $60 + 150/15 = 10 gallons = $24.50 or 84.50 total and the airport cargo fee was $25 to start, so basically if 4 others order w/me, you probably are paying me less than $15 for me to deliver the fish to your door then pay $25.63 ($25 + 2.5% charge for airport cargo fee) and wait at john wayne for your fish.
 
I think it would be easier for everyone to meet at the Airport to pick up their fish. Just in case a fish comes in DOA the buyer can see it asap. You don't wanna be responsible for things that go wrong....:WHOA:

fair enough, let's do group pick-up then at john wayne for next saturday. i've already emailed rapps regarding individual orders getting group discount and waiting to hear. once i hear fr rapps, i'll respond on this thread (assuming i'll hear tomorrow at some point) that he's a go on this, but there are still some logistics: we need to know who is going to be involved in the group buy (so rapps knows whose fish to ship in aggregate and how to divvy up the shipping charge) so let's say that IF rapps is a go on our proposal, 1) pm me if you are going to order fr rapps for next sat delivery at john wayne, 2) use my name (mike yun) as the aggregate shippee (so rapps can divvy up the shipping charge equally among us) and 3) post your actual order on this site so that if there are any problems next week w/the delivery, we can corroborate w/rapps who ordered what so there are no squabbles. i will corroborate who actually ordered and what they ordered w/rapps so there should be no confusion next saturday. cool?
