I just measured him. ~5" (no tail) ~6" total length.

That would make my O 8 or 9 inches then TL

Not a bad growth rate as I started him at 2 inches at the end of February.

He seemed around that large in comparison didn't he?

Yes, I'd estimate that your oscar was 2-3" bigger. And with the pristine water condition he's in he'll be a foot long by fall.
