Anyone into kung fu movies??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think I could ever bring myself to watch The One again, ever.

for me, Carla Gugino makes it worth it. it's not his best movie but it's an ok flik to catch once in a blue moon. that being said, I've only seen it like twice, lol. come to think of it, I don't really care for any of jet li's movies he made in the US

anyways, finally saw Thai Chi Zero last night. too much cgi kills it for me. and the story itself takes kind of a lame turn towards the beginning. the main character is supposed to be a badass who wins the war for them, and when his horn is struck, he turns into a real killer.

then his camp is attacked and he goes to the village, which then he, all of a sudden, gets his butt whooped by frail cute honeys and little girls? what happened to being one of the most skilled guys in an army?

ok maybe he's weakened because his horn is turning red to purple. that's how I made it logical in my head. I'll still watch part two because I wanna see what happens. but I think I expected too much going into it

the main girl is hella cute man, but that Claire chick was pretty smoking. the bad guy made the right choice

also, just a couple trivia things. noticed that the doctor at his army camp is the main villain in the Kung Fu Hustle movie. funny how he is able to kick the general's ass pretty easily

and uncle Qin, the bald guy who at the end guards the gate to the village during the wedding, is one of my favorite Chinese actors in terms of martial art movies and skills. i'm a huge fan of his. the guy is a badass. I loved him in the Once Upon a Time in China movies along side Jet Li. he did some of the stunts for jet li since during that time li was not in his prime anymore do to his age and some injuries

he was also discovered by Rocky's boy, Lau Kar-Leung

kung pow has a few funny parts. but for the most part it's stupid. there is stupid funny, and there is the kind of funny where they try to be funny but it's just so stupid it's not funny. that's kung pow

but my sisters loved it. it's for certain kinds of sense of humor, I can see that. but that's not my kind of funny

the fact it is so stupid and ridiculous is what makes it so funny....

So I picked up the sequel,Tai Chi Hero, at Walmart the other day and it did not live up to the hype.By the end of the film I was actually sorry I forked over the twelve bucks for it.

dude, why didn't you just stream it?

but thanks for the heads up, i'm gonna stream it some time this weekend hopefully. and hopefully it's available

I dont think theyll ever top kung fu hustle or even shaolin soccer. . For that type of movie.

I was actually pleasantly surprised to see it there as I wasn't aware that it was even out yet...it wasn't like I went looking for it.Luckily I managed to sell it to a co worker who is also a martial arts movie buff...Ade,not sure if you saw it or the first one but I wouldn't say they are along the lines of Kung Fu Hustle,I still haven't seen Shao Lin Soccer yet.

I did see tczero. It was OK, some things were good, some wasn't. I'll catch part 2 soon

Shaolin soccer has same humor as kung fu hustle. A lot of same actors in both movies. If you liked hustle, you should enjoy soccer

I usually don't care for slapstick and silliness in my martial arts movies but Hustle was a refreshing change from the norm to me.

i'm the same too. but like you said, it was a bit refreshing. plus I mind it less if the story is good. Stephan chow does a good job at having some deep philosophical backbone to the story.
