I'm curious... I just discovered the 30x18 footprint. The most popular (and I believe only commercially available size) is the "56 column" which is 30x18x24. I think something a bit shorter, like a 30x18x16, would be a really cool tank for my single convict (he's getting ready to get bumped out of his 40g breeder because my turtle is getting it). I really love 18" deep tanks. Does anyone keep anything this size? If so, please share your pictures and setups!

I also love the footprint. I had to upgrade my 29 gallon community, and I didn't have much space to go longer. I don't like column tanks though and I ended up going 40br and rearranging my living room :irked:

I hear you. I really love 40g breeders, but I don't really want to have two of them (one for the turtle, one for the con). The con will be bumped down to a 29g but I can't stand 12" deep tanks anymore. I'd love to get him a 30x18 tank.

I have a 56 column and it worked well as a growout for my oscar so i think a conivct would really like it

Thanks, where did you buy yours?

A 36 bowfront is 30x15, that's the closest you're gonna get. However bowfronts are expensive, I could have got a standard 55 for the same price but the warden claims we don't have room for a 55 and the 125 I already have in my living room.

I've got a 56 column (30x18x24T). It's a pretty neat footprint. I'm currently using it for a discus and geophagus growout, although the geo's are about to get their own 4x2x20T aquarium set up just for them.

I do like the look of the tank. I have a 125g, a 90g, and this 56g all set along the same wall. Since they are all 18" front to back, it makes a nice wall of glass and water to look at. If the tank were only 12" front to back, it would not look nearly as nice.

I'll try to take some tonight.

Its got some serious filtration on it. An eheim knockoff doing ~250-300gph, a whisper 30 HOB, and an AC70 HOB. But it also has 8 discus, 11 geophagus, 1 pike cichlid, 4 kuhli loaches, and 1 banjo catfish. All growouts less than 4", but still...
