Anyone keep albino RES or any Albino turtles?

How do you raise them? There are a few tricks regarding raising softys, Ive did very well with the male I have now(but hell Ive did too my fare share of mistakes in the past:irked: even with adult ones). One of the lessons I learned the hard way is that you dont feed a big chunk of fish or meat (like you could do to any other turtle) to a softshell turtle, they literaly eat themselfes to death. Also they need very clean water.

has a good selection, I'm more than sure a few other keepers have some other species, but alot of them are hush hush about it, because its they're next big project.

I know the Japanese have alot of albino turtles

i have an albino red ear.
he has always seemed to have a little trouble catching his pellets and other random food. he does get them but after a few tries. i would put duck weed or some thing to block the light so its not so direct. good luck. they are awesome looking. after a while you will just look at the albino as another turtle. i have mine with a rio grande

I find the albinos fantastic problem is they are outside in water trough .

1 yearling Map male and 1 yearling Florida Cooter male with driftwood haul out areas but I also have a plastic bin haul out area till April with soil for them to dig in chilly night.

The Cooter uses it not the Map sleeps on bottom of water . A vision impaired turtle would make me nervous .I am going to look for the ghost slider which is also pretty granted I find the albino bit nicer.

I do use lots floating plants such as frogbit and ludwiga .

Your Albino is outside with your rio grande ?

yes,my albino goes outside with the rio from april to oct. he loves it. im in vegas so i can get away with it. albinos are truly rewarding to keep. get yourself one-you wont regret it.

What do you house them in when outside . I use a reg 70 gallon water trough as they are both small but as bigger will go with 150 .

I do use lots floating plants as they eat them just get more from my fish ponds/troughs.The map turtle I only see in pasing and about twice a week change all the water (trough has drain valve) with dechlorinated water and see him than but very nervous turtle.
