basically what the title says but nothing that will hurt the rays
i need the algae to be cleaned without a magnet i hammered my tank the other day with a stupid ass mag float
and wass hopeing there would be a good cleaner that wont hurt my rays
i know a friend who keeps a big fei fengs with no problems but have also heard of them sucking on rays like plecos which i don't want
thanks

T1karman keeps feifang... my buddy did as well he had no problem with the mix and i think t1 doesnt either....

yeah but seen a few Fei Feng's do some nasty damage on the rays.. do a MFK search you can probably find it.

I think they are probably just as taboo as plecos.. some will cause damage, some won't.. I would just get a crew of disposable bushynose plecos and give them a chunk of driftwood in the corner so they can escape the rays and hide during the day.. cross your fingers they come out at night, do there job, and not cross paths with a big hungry ray.

as Miles said,
I hear of it being done, then I hear of them going after the slime coat as plecos do, being fine for a while then an all of a sudden incident.
Safest bet for the rays is a scrub brush or sponge and do the work your self

I had a fei feng in with my smaller rays for a long time. no problem. with a tank as big as mine, there was plenty of algae for him to eat. As for the large ray tank, no go with fei feng. Not for the rays, but my large female pinned down an 8" fie feng and proceeded to eat him. That was an expensive feeder fish to say the least.

I used to keep a 15-16'' FF with my rays, no problems. Then when I mixed the rays with a small 4-5'' FF, the small FF sucked the hell out of the back of one of my Motoros...

So as Miles said, it's a bit of a gamble.

Had a FF with my rays for awhile until it got a taste hence its gone!

Larger FF tends to be more subtle than the smaller ones. My 15" fei feng leaves my bichirs alone. I also put halves of zuchinni on the tank for him to feed one every other day.

Keep them well fed, they'll be fine. As stated above, larger ones tends to have more potential with rays and bichirs than smaller and more eager ones..

Might give LED lights a shot if you have algae probs.. they seem to light up my 100g real well and I never get algae. 16 hrs a day too..
