Thanks for the help coura! As much as I would like to get one now since they seem to be somewhat rare, I think I will wait and spend the mean time gathering info and setting up a bada$$ home for them. My LFS has crafted some real awesome setups with small waterfalls, live plants, foggers, etc, in old 90 gal and 125 gal tanks. That is what got me interested in the first place.

How often are these available in the US??? First time I've ever seen em' but I really haven't been keeping an eye out for them.
like coura said you should start with some type of phelsuma i have a p. dubia and a p. staningii they are delightful well at least the dubia is, i sometimes put dgd on my finger and hell come right up and lick it off its awesome!:D

I really want to get a few and breed them. They're probably the prettiest day geckos I've ever seen.

I say if you do plenty of research first then you'll be fine with them. You have to start somewhere. And I have a feeling they won't be able to ship any more wild caught one into the country pretty soon so the ones available are going to skyrocket in price. I'd definitely consider breeding them if you're going to try this species.

Just got back from the LFS and they were all males:( They said they will call their supplier tomorrow and see if he will sale them a few females. Guy at the store said a pair will run me about $200-250 depending on what the supplier wants for his females.

So, I've got my fingers crossed and in the mean time I'll be doing a lot of research and getting the tank ready!!!!

I also learned something new today....... You guys know the stuff in a can called "GREAT STUFF"????? It's an expanding foam that is used for many different projects...... well, they have a marine grade!!!!!! It said on the can "for waterfalls(and something else, can't remember right now)." Anyway when it dries it looks like the color of concrete. They used this in their display tanks at my LFS for creating the 3D backgrounds in the tanks. Very cool!!!!!! Never knew it existed!

Thank you sir. :D

Yeah Great Stuff works well but I found out you'll need a lot more of it then you might think. There's a few types of that brand of foam. I'd recommend the "Large Gap Filler" one because it expands a little bit more then the original. The marine stuff sounds good too. I haven't seen that for sale anywhere. Where do they sell it?

You can check out the wall I build with it in this thread:
