Just been looking on youtube and seen a lovely tank with neons and RBP's cohabiting
is this common/adviseable and does anyone do it on here?

She has tetras, gouramis, and a few others in there.

I can't seem to keep anything with mine, the yalways seem to eat anything up while I'm at work, but it really is dependant upon the individual shoal or specimen.

You can always try it to see how it works out.
I'm in the belief that even if it does work for now, piranhas are opportunistic scavengers, and will eventually knock off a lazy or tired or weak specimen. It's only a matter of time.

Well following the well fed rule....yours seem to eat quite well..albeit expensive but well :grinno::grinno:

Thats my vid and I feed them pellets every day and they get shrimp/tilapia once or twice a week.
It also depends on the size of the piranha...if you have a foot long red in with a school of tetras I doubt they would get eaten...just the size difference for one and really it isn't worth the energy expended for the piranha to bother eating something so small...small p's on the other hand may enjoy the red and blue snack :P

The youtube vid you watched (aside from alyssa's) is probably adult piranhas. Alot of adult ps (especially rhoms) wouldn't bother with such a small fish as they're too difficult for them to catch anyways

adult piranhas are generally uninterested in fast moving smaller fish like tetras. Sub-adults may chase them around a bit, but hey....they're like 10 for 10$ so if you lose a few...
