I already asked in another section. I have 2 kingsleyaes and 2 acutirostres with 1 green severum. Anyone else successfully keep cichlids with ctenos?

I had a ctenopoma acutirostre in with some CA's of the same size a couple years ago. It lasted until I left for a long weekend and I came home to a scaleless, eyeless ctenopoma.

I dont think they are big enough nor aggressive enough to be kept with bigger cichlids...

I have a severum in my tank with them. The sev is only like 3" though, so we'll see. I love ctenopomes, but they're so slow, so I wanted something more colorful that would swim around more.

I'm actually having to take back my 7" C.acutirostre because it hammers my Jack Dempsey, BLue Acara and Dats. Its a fantastice fish but I've found to my cost it hates Dats/cichlids.
I'm gutted as I've had the fish 3 years

Did it get more aggressive with age? I ask because I would like to see mine reach that size. My two leopards are big weenies. The big one bosses the smaller one around sometimes, but he runs from everything else (except the bichir, whom everything ingnores)

I think i answerd your other thread might not of

You can keep them with cichlids they do we'll with larger peacful cichlids and can hold there own against mildly aggressive cichlids mine is being kept with a jack dempsy, pike and a firemouth it grew up with the JD and would push it around but eventually the JD got bigger and turned the tables they use to fight but know they tend to stay away from each other

So they will do fine with peacful cichlids and mildly aggressive ones i say larger peacul cichlids because centopomas can have an attitude of there own and often chase small or whimpy fish around

Cichlids like Large geophagus can work ones like brasilinesis and steindachneri are tuffer then the other earth eaters and would work better other cichlids like pikes, convicts some times firemouths and severums are good ideas

Here it is-took it shop this morning. Very sad but it just hated my Dats-came away with 2 new IT's to soften the blow. It got more aggressive as it got bigger I found
