I might install one of those gci thingys, and theoretically eleminate the fire issue. But still have to worry about exploding. So no glass. But might try metal if that's installed.

By "gci thingys" I would assume you mean GFCI(ground fault circuit interrupter) While these are good safety item to add to your aquarium to guard against electric shock. They will not "theoretically" eliminate any fire hazard.

Yea, thats what I ment:thumbsup:, I suppose what I should've said it would lower the threat of fire;). I'm just going by my husband's vague discription, I don't know alot about that stuff.
I've been suggested that heater, and it looked perfect, until I read that it's not nearly enough for my tank. I have a 240gal, and it only goes to 90gal:) I don't think I'll get enough back for two of the eather, Aqueon, which would work I think. But worse comes to worse I'll probably go for two of those smaller heaters, instead of one big one. Is that a better idea? I'm kinda thinking from all the responses that I've seen around, the stealth line is doomed. Which is tragic, cause it seems like alot of people had them and loved them. I am glad they offered an easy exchange or replacement process :)

Fluval M series can be fully submerged. I have one fully submerged that was obtained after trading in the stealths from the first round of recalls. I contact Fluval to clarify if it could be submerged and they said yes it could be and they were sorry for the confusion on the packaging.

the "e" series fluvals are also completely submersible. However they are expensive and i found the novelty of the digtal temp wore off rather fast when i found the 300w couldnt keep temperature in my 106 without the help of my jager 200w (which is now heating the same tank by itself i might add).

My experience with Fluval M has been the same. I have returned 3 and kept 1. The 1 I kept is a 200w that heats a 29g tank after a 100w fluval m could not... so uh yeah I can't recommend the product. But they are submersible.

Fluvial E series have worked wonders for me. I have 4... 2 in each of my 75's temp is always a stable 78! I had 2 stealths and returned only the non-working one. Stealths have been good to me as well. I find that when you use 2 heaters in the tank instead of 1, they last a lifetime. The 1 stealth that died on me was my fault because I forgot to unplug it while doing a water change.

I returned my stealth today to Petsmart with no problems. The only thing that they had in the same watt range was the Aqueon 250, so I purchased one. It seems to be a decent heater, but only time will tell.

I got the same one. Very similar to the stealth in the looks. Working well so far.

I still have a glass one from marineland running(not part of the stealth recall), and I still have a broken stealth I need to return :P

In the future I'll go for different heaters unless stealths can prove themselves for a few years, but that'll obviously take a while.
