i dont mind owning some natives such as sunnie, crappies, or some catfish...but alot of the larger ones such as esox species, and bass species are growin scarcer as we speak..so y just diminish the population into our tanks..can we just close this thread

dovii, are you still talking about muskies? I, for one, have never seen one, and I live in one of the states they are found. (Tigers, anyway)

not a lot of people keep the big'ins. most keep sunnies, bullhead, killi, darters, sculpin, grass pickerel, smaller bass and just stuff that gets below 20" and can be managed.

The sarcasm has run thick in the past threads here. I can't blame the membership. This is a sad day.

yes santoury i am talkin about muskies, and other pickerel species....even still x24 bass and pickerel may get smaller, but they still need lots of room to swim, and hunt, bass are active hunters and like lots of room to move around..so putting a lmb or smb in say a 220 or so is alright but y not just leave him in a pond were he can be happier, and have the whole thing to swim in , and yes u may say well this is the same about species in other countries, that is y i keep species that can be managed in smaller tanks...

yes it is quite sad.....how one small thing that shouldn't matter could blow up idk. but atleast there are still people here and this forum should start up again once some of these people that are spaming are cleared out. teleost, you should be the new mod.

yes i agree..i am very passionate about conserving wildlife..but why would u stuff 15 pbass in a tank just to look at isnt one enough..now im not flaming any certain members just saying...it isnt right

It certainly isn't right to keep that many fish in a small tank (tropical or native). But I must take exception to the "leave them in a pond comment". No doubt many of the larger natives should be kept in only very large tanks. The same could be said for many popular tropicals currently on the market (RTC to think of one). I don't think ponding a LMB or an RTC is the same as keeping them in glass. Let's face it, if we wanted the fish to be perfect, we'd leave them in South America/North America/Africa etc. in the wild. As aquarists, we want to observe them up close and personal.

Very kind of you but I'm certain I would not "fit in" either. The Troll level combined with the ever increasing illegal activities here would make it impossible to play the politics required to promote legal and ethical activities while not ruffling the feathers of the Trolls that seem to have a bit more pull than average Joe's like us.
