can you knife or shoot a ghost if they want to hurt you?

Back when I was in the fifth grade we moved into this nice house in a decent neighborhood, the house was built in the late 80's so it wasn't too bad looking. The house was covered with some wood siding to it regularly creeped and made noises if there was a breeze outside (anyone who lived in a home with siding can remember the first time they heard some noises). All was well until I got to the sixth grade. By then my other siblings and I had gotten used to staying home alone until 8pm when my parents got off work and the house making its usual noises. One late Monday evening I was doing the dishes and cleaning up after the family because I was my night to do the dishes. In the kitchen we had door which lead out into garage, we kept the trash can right outside that door. so I finished up doing the dishes and gathered up the trash from dinner and threw it out and closed the door. As I took one last look around the kitchen before turning off the lights I discovered that my younger sister left one plate that was still on the dinning room table that still needed to be washed. I took the plate and began to wash it. Just as I turned on the faucet there was a loud noise which came from just outside the window by the dinning room. It startled me but I quickly dismissed as one of those usual noises we had been living with. Then the noise came again but this time a bit louder. I was weird because the house never made any type of noises in the same place twice. So I began to panic a little and started to finish up. Just as I began to put the last plate away the garage door opened behind me, at that moment I was just about ready to piss myself. Everyone was on the other end of the house and I was the only one cleaning up. About 3 seconds after the door opened I gained the courage to turn around and see. To my surprise there was nothing there. I slammed the door shut locked it and ran all the way to my bedroom. I didn't even turn off the lights. I got an ear full from my parents the next morning on turning lights off before we go to bed. I was terrified of the kitchen for the next following days; I also didn't tell anyone either because everyone would think I was crazy. Then on that friday of that same week my older sister came forward and told my parents that same thing happened to her a few weeks ago and she's been really scared to be alone in the kitchen. Then I also came forward and so did my other siblings. So I wasn't just me, it had happened to everyone else. The noises and creeping the house made became very normal, but the garage door remained an issue. The family would come back to an empty house with the garage door opened. I wasnt until on night my dad was doing the dishes and the door popped open on him, that he decided to do something about it. We changed the knob and hinges which didn't fix anything. The only thing that would stop the door from opening by itself would be locking it then close it. That solved it. If the door remained unlocked but closed it would somehow find it's way and open up by itself. But if we locked it before we closed it then the door would remain closed. We moved out of that house in 2005, we still own the house and it is currently being rented out to some nice people. I have thought about setting up a video camera and capturing the door open but I never had the guts to (dont want to know who or what is opening the door). Before we moved out, we installed three self closing hinges. We don't know if it still happens but we also do not want to tell anyone because we do not want to spook anyone who is living there. The last time I was there alone a few weeks ago I locked that door before going about fixing an outlet in the kitchen. Yes I am still terrified being there alone.

I never have personally. I'm not sensitive to those kinds of things, but my mom is.

I have an experience to share, it was right after my grandma died, i was sitting at home with a bunch of big heavy graphics books on my dinning room table, (right in the middle of it might i add) and all of a sudden ALL the books were pushed off the table... at that point i knew it was my grandma saying good bye to me...

Then when i got back to HK and just after attending the funeral i went back to my parents place and the house smelt exactly like the flowers from the Funeral Parlor...

Thinking it was just me i didn't say anything, then that night at dinner my sister and brother, both who have their own places asked if any one else had a funny smell of flowers when they got home, and at that point i once again knew it was just my grandma doing her last round saying bye to the family...

So all in all didn't really freak me out, considering i pretty much was expecting her to come back and let us know she was going (its a Chinese thing)...

What ghost? I guess they were just afraid of me.
