the tach is mounted inside... for now haha, I recently bought one of these (79 monte) in rough shape and Im hoping to turn my beast into a beauty as depicted above
 
to be honest I would perfer it without a scoop but it came with a sheet metal snorkel, so Im going to cut that off but it will leave a huge hole in the hood so I need some way to hide it i.e. scoop. I was going to buy a new hood but the only ones I can find that aren't more then I paid for the car are fiberglass pin ons and Im not really a big fan of that. The more I think about it though the more I like the idea of a scoop, I think it'll look mean.
 
Thats a bad ass car without the scoop, but iirc the stingray scoops are pretty small so it'll still look good. Be sure to share some pics when you're done, I love old Montes.
edit: just saw your post with the hood issue so yeah put a nice low profile one on there and it'll be awesome
 
I think the Greentera's pic looks more realistic. Nice monte, my dad has an 89 ss.
