Hmmm. I'm back from the store and she looks alright. Still VERY light. I did notice a pronounced black dot on the side of her face about a few days ago. It's not part of her normal coloration but it IS the same pigment.
Anyway, talk about an awesome pick up... Some lady was trading in a bag of guppies. Like 50 or more. I started laughing and said it was a nice bag of fish food... and they sold me the lot for $4.00. Quarenting now... then chow time
i have an endli i got from toyin. it never really ate much at first for almost a month maybe. but after about 3-4 months of having it, he eats like a champ and is still alive n kickin. looks great.
What did you think of the enormous P. bichir lapradei 'Koliba' that they got in? I was there when the shipment arrived and it was really pale and stressed out. Went back on Friday and it looked GREAT!
As regards the Nigerian P. endlicheri, bear in mind that almost ALL of Toyin's fish are wild-caught and could very easily be carrying a load of internal (as well as external) parasites. You might try Jungle Parasite Clear ('fizzy' tablets) at about half strength and see if that perks your bichirs up a bit. Do be aware that it might knock your biological filter back just a little bit but I've used it on a number of occasions on bichirs as well as other fish and haven't had any problemswith side effects or ammonia spikes.
i also had a nigerian endlicheri from Toyin pass away after about a month. it was doing great at first, eating and active. then all of a sudden it looked very stressed, 2 days later was dead. very mysterious
out of the 10 bichirs i have gotten from Toyin that is the only one that died.
Yes, Joe, I saw the monster Saturday. Took a pic with my phone too.... absolute beauty. You know Chris.. had to try to sell it to me. Also tried to sell me on orderin a Teugelsi lol ~
The endli died. I thought it looked better but then K was watching it and it just started listing all over the tank then turned belly up... all in five minutes. I think I'm done with the Nigerians... My guinea has ALWAYS been fine, my volta has ALWAYS been fine.
Do you guys really think pH has anything to do with it? pH of 7.0 has always been what I have had... it's what comes out of the tap... it's what I've had the last three years I've had bichirs. I went and got a gripload of holey rock... but I don't even want to unload if from my trunk to be honest. I just redecorated (or undecorated in this case) my 55s and I just don't even want to get arm deep in them again.
