Ya I had a friend keep an octo and it lived like 7 months, then stopped eating, and died.
His was only supposed to live a year, so I guess he got lucky.
I'll have to find the pics.

It would be cool to have one. The only drawback is the short lifespan. I think the only one that lives more 5 years or so would be the giant Octopus.
 
They sell them at my LFS and there around $60. i like the puffericon oddball
 
pacific giant octopus live up to around 5 years in a chilled, over pumped tank, or if they are female, until bred, they die shortly after the eggs hatch. Arrowsqiud live 1 year
 
i dont have one but im in the middle of setting a tank up for one . ive researched it for a long time and finally saved up enough money. im getting a bimaculoides from octopets.com theyr not too difficult to keep the water quality doesnt have to be perfect but i have no worries about that because im filtering the 38 gallon its in with an ehieim 2228 and an eheim 2215 so i think ill have enough filtration. theyr really not that hard the only drawback is the lifespan but if u get one thats tank bred and its guaranteed to be only 8 - 10 weeks old you can still have it for a good amount of time. if you have any questions about keeping one pm me because ive probly researched it already and can let you know. once i get it all set up ill come back with some pictures.

finally got it all set up got the octo for 50$ its a tank bred definatly the way to go it was probly only a few weeks old when i got it now its about a month and half old still really small

nice set-up. What size tank is that. That oct. is awsome. Did you get him online or from a local spot? I went to a place that had a bunch of babies for $65. They were the size of quaters.
 
yeah most of the ones i have ordered were really small too
i customer of mine requested i order him a blue ring octo.
even that was small! and i couldn't even see any rings :(
