Anyone plan on getting a drone?

my question is, and this doesn't even apply to me up in Canada, but how will they enforce it. say you buy a drone, do they make you complete a registration before the drone is given to you at the store? what about online? there are so many different companies doing this. if I can buy one for cheap from china I highly doubt they will be sending me any paper work to fill out. it seems like it would be completely on the honor system with prob a fine if you get caught without one.

It doesn't apply to Canada because you guys are already a rogue nation ;)

I would think it would kinda like registering a dog, you're suppose to, but not everyone does

All that considered I still don't see what registering these devices is going to accomplish...Say a particular drone is registered,I'm guessing it would have some kind of registry number assigned to it but what good would that do the authorities?....after it was used for whatever offending task it's owner wanted to carry out it can't be identified as it then just flies away and no one is certain who it belonged to.

Likely they will impose some type of registration fee....another way for the government to tax it's citizens...

Well, there were several incidents recently here, when drones were in the sky during brush fire, resulting in all air fire fighter grounded, due to safety concern. They've just passed regulation to allow fire fighters to take drone down by any mean, so with registration, they'll be able to track down the owner, and bill him, cite him, or arrest him. They still don't allow civilian to take drone down, though :( As for the fee, I don't know if there's a fee involved in registration

I imagine there are endless nefarious uses for these things that the right owner could come up with and I have no problem with a first responder physically taking down a drone if it interferes with their duties but if they can't catch the drone they can't trace it to it's owner and the registration is useless.

Well, just like in every hobby, irresponsible "hobbyist" gives a reason for the government to involve and take away the fun of the hobby.
This is one of the example/reason that give a reason for the government asking for drone registration

No arguments from me on that point.

I hardly think my drone is a security risk.
