I have tried africans to but no luck. I think that they are not as good as the company might imply. I also tried europeans but no luck. I think that I will just try regular red worms because they worked for me in the past. They can get preety thick to if fed right.

That might be the problem. africans might not reproduce like we are told.

if this bunch doesnt reproduce will get red next order love using earthworms but dont want to buy them all the time prefer to "culture" them if possible

Heres what you do.

Get your bin, take newspapers and shred them pretty good,Fill the bin then lightly wet the newspaper down.Add your worms and feed them old teabags veggies whatever ya know.Keep the temp around 75-80.I started with 2 dozen. Also Id have about 1/2 an inch to an inch of good top soil in the bottom.

I've raised red before...just bought a bag, threw them in a bin with of dirt and ripped up newspaper, then when adding scraps just mixed it in the top layer... very easy, and they turn those scraps into good compost too. Just make sure to not let the dirt dry out...haha and make sure you don't throw anything in with seeds, kind of forgot about that and opened it once to a bunch of seedlings growing on top.

Before that, and every so often took out some soil, bc they were converting the scraps into it... crushed eggshells are supposedly good for worms from what I remember, it's been a while.

Wow! Great info stotty!

Thanks for the site. I can only use African earthworms as my garage is warm/hot .
Someone told me for them I needed to use soil on bottom and paper/cardboard on top not shredded as shreeded paper when moist was to damp for them.

This is old pic when I set it up before getting them. So far so good. . I use them to fish the canal's and some of the canals are mat's just thck mat's of anachris or cabomba not sure which that float on the surface and only small cave like opening's.

Thats where I lure the worm as no way can use lure's. Have caught LOT's of small peacock bass. 1 jag cichlid and assorted fish .

The Canal is closest to my house so I walk there otherwise a pain canal to fish. No one fishes the canal as huge pain and impossible to net cichlid's but plenty of them living there .
When you enjoy fishing you go to pain in the butt creepy looking canal's lol.
