Sorry for the long time in between posts, it's been a busy week :nilly: . I'm going to try to just lay this out as plainly as possible, and hopefully show that there isn't now, nor has there been a foot in my mouth. :D
Like I said in an earlier post, just because you say that you follow Jesus, doesn't make you a Christian. If your practices are contrary to what Jesus Christ said, then you cant be a Christian because you aren't following what He says. Jesus said that the Bible is the Word of God, and therefore we should follow. So if I show that the book of mormon has things in it that are contrary to the Bible (again what Jesus said is the truth) than that would show that mormonism is not a denomination of Christianity, because they aren't following Christ, regardless of what they say. Here are a few examples of how the book of mormon contradicts the Bible. 1. The book of mormon says that God was once a man, and then became God. The Bible states that God is the begining and end, and there were no other God's before Him, not that He was once a man. Also Mormons believe that there are different levels of Heaven (which the is no mention of in the Bible) and if you can get to the highest level, you will also become a God, and get your own "planet" to rule over. Isaiah 43:10 clearly states, "Before Me no God was formed, nor will there be one after Me" there is an obvious difference there. Mormons belive that the book of mormon is authoritative, but in one of the last verses of the Bible in Revelation this is said, "I warn everyone who hears the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book." Yet the book of mormon is used in addition to the Bible:confused: . There are many others like how mormons belive that Jesus is the brother of lucifer (which there is no mention of in the Bible), and they also belive that you have to "speak" with joseph smith before you "speak" to Jesus, and that he is some sort of 2cd mediator, but the Bible clearly states in 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
There are obvious contradictions, and someone can claim all day that they follow Christ, but if they're practices dont match up with what Jesus said, then they are not Christians. So, I agree, people should know what they are talking about. :D

Religion threads have a poor success record. Please no arguing about it. Dissemination of knowledge is great, dissemination of flames is not. Pretty clean so far, but please keep these things in mind.

Thanks!

I was raised mormon and no I do not still attend . Havent for 18 years. Religion as a whole is just WACK if you ask me.

Does this thread asking for bible thumping diatribes? No it just asks who was raised mormon. Whatever happened to the separation of church and fishkeeping. The only church I wanna hear about is the churches of dieselmack.

Sorry, but when people decide to make false statements about things that they dont know about, I think its important to state the facts, rather then let lies spread, and pick up steam. If thats thumping, then you got me, but I'd rather do that then just follow inaccuracies, just because they sound good. Facts do much better when searching for truth. Oh and the separation of Church and fishkeeping...this is the lounge right? I guess you'd rather just have my opinion silenced? Not to mention the fact that the guy I was debating with, on numerous posts talked crap to me like about how mt foot was in my mouth, and that I dont know what I'm talking about, and so on. But I guess thats ok as long as it doesnt have to do with the Bible?
