Just like the tittle says people . i finally got my car back from the shop and am ready to start exploring the wonderful wild areas of my state. anyone ever caught any wild rosy boas?,rubber boas , san Bernardino mountain king snakes?

any kind of herp is good . plz share ure stories and maybe a few pics??:headbang2

also interested though I think I asked before.I would love to find rosies,or gilas. In kern county we have lots of rattlers and lizards.careful, the Mojave green is one damn camouflaged snake and it didnt rattle until after we walked over it.Im just saying to expect the unexpected. It could have been real bad for us.I think you got more rosys.Ive also seen kings here.

Yea thats all i need , rattlers:nilly: i will be very careful as i have seen how they are very common during the summer months.

Here where I live we have the 3 species of rattlers ( reds, westerns, and southern pacifics) as well as gopher snakes, cal kings, ribbon snakes, and Ive caught a few red racers. Last year I was cleaning up a debris pile with some composted leaf litter and caught a pair of ringneck snakes.

Sounds very nice. wish it was closer to me.

I see countless posts like this on the internet... Here the best advice I can give you.

You'd be surprized how much information is in a field guide. You can pick up a copy of Stebbins, or check out this site www.californiaherps.com. I seriously doubt any serious so cal herper is going to causually let you in on how to find any of the 3 snake species you mentioned. Due to the ever increasing popularity in field herping, a lot of habitat damage and commercial collection of native herps has transpired. You could probably find some scab who's been shown good spots to herp, yet hasn't put in the time and effort, and is willing to let anyone come herp "their spot". If you want to find mt. kings, pick up a copy of Moutain Kingsnake by Brian Hubbs. If you're serious about rosy boas, join the www.localityrosys.com forum. They have an anual ARC meeting where they go out in search of rosys.

I mention time and effort.... It really does go a long way. I think if you start herping, and start finding herps on your own. You'll learn that the herpers with more field experience will be more willing to give out information once you've "paid your dues".

This past weekend I was watching India's deadly dozen on the tube. When I went outside to get my smokes from my motorcycle, I came about a foot away from stepping barefooted on a 16" copperhead which was sunning on my sidewalk. Scared the livin crap outta me! Holy adreanalin rush... Especialy after watching the badass vipers on TV

When I was a kid me and my bro were out on a perfect spring day when everything was awakening from hibernation. I think we caught over 60 snakes that day.. A couple weeks later my mom was giving cake decorating lessons to a bunch of ladies. Suddenly the blue racer showed up in the kitchen. Talk about a bunch of freaking out students :WHOA::WHOA::WHOA: LOL.. Wish I was there though cause mom took care of the snake problem with a butcher knife
