Anyone starved a Datnoid to death??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im at about 2 weeks with a couple ngts

I second vanimates post on the first page of this thread. Fish will not starve themselves to death unless they can do anything about it.

The longest I starged my previous 4" NGT (which I sold to Justin) was 7 months. It was skinny, very skinny but it gave in as well. In my case, I wanted it to take market shrimp.

Is it generally difficult to get Datnoids to eat pellets? I was considering starving mine as well, but I don't know if I could take the suspense.

Feed your dats anything they will eat till they are completely stuffed. Now that you know they had a good fill you begin a starvation period. Only offer what you want the dat to eat. You can also use dither fish. These fish should be fast swimming and aggressive eaters, such as archers, tinfoils, arowanas, etc.

it's far easier to kill a fish by overfeeding than it is to kill them by starving them.

Did you remove the excess food from the water on that month starvation when he wouldnt eat?

Vanimate: Hows your NGT doing after that marathan starve session.Has it caught up normal health yet?:D

Well he still looks lilke he hasn't eaten in months. But he definitely is eating. I'm guessing it might take awhile for him to get back his weight.

I've starved my 3" for 5 weeks now to try and get on frozen prawn-he used to only eat bloodworm. That advice I've heard of 'monkey see, monkey do...' is a load of pants. I've 4 other Tigers who all eat the stuff but the NGT ignores it.
Don't know when or if we'll break the deadlock
