Anyone stung by their Ray? Story? PAin Description?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got stung 3 years ago when i was moving my ray. it fell on my foot and stung me. the pain was really horrible. i could not sit still. you suppose to soak in really hot water for two hour or more. but i just could not take. so i had my friend take me to ER. they gave me morphine and benadryl shot and had me soak my foot in hot water.
the pain is really that bad. i literally could not sit still or think clearly.

Also, i had to be antibiotics for 2 months since i had a nasty skin infection at the sting site. stingray venom affectes you serotonin receptors, so it is not fun at all

i wore sandals. They thought i was a drug seeker at first. but luckily for me, a nurse recognized me ( i work in hospitals). so they let me in without waiting. I still keep rays. i wont let something like this stop me. never

I've been tagged by both fresh and saltwater rays. Some where worse than others. A dry shot (no sheath, no venom) feels like driving a nail into your hand. A hot tag is like nothing I've ever felt by any other animal.

I know I've posted this story before, so all you old school MFKers can skip it. :D

When Steve was killed, I was swamped with TV interviews that week. One reporter asked me to describe what it felt like to be stung. I told the reported to take a rusty bent needle, inject yourself with gasoline, then light that on fire.
She just stared at me, then said they probably won't put that on the air later.

I got tagged by my male motoro while trying to move him out with net,
got me on the left hand between my thumb and index it was only a light gash but hurt like hell, i ran my hand in hot water which seemed to help.
Two months later i started to lose all feeling in my thumb and finger cut it short i needed to see a specialist and have an operation which was 18 stiches and alot of $$$.
