A 75gal is too small for a full grown pair of Midas, the male would beat the female to death or at the very least, make her life very miserable. 75gals work for a solo adult Midas only.

hence the reason I suggested the tank divider ;) also, not all pairs will be that aggressive with each other. for example, A. festae (the red terror) males are notorious for killing their mates. ask Mojo how many females his male has killed. my male, however is rather tame and the pair have lived fine in both a 125 and 75 with no divider with no trouble at all. I'm certainly not recommending other people try keeping an adult festae pair in a 75 with no divider however, I'm just saying it will vary from fish to fish and from pair to pair as to how they get along together. :)

Its still too small, even if they don't try to kill each other (though, they most likely would, and do you really want to try it and find out?). They're too large to keep two of them in one 75gal tank. Even a 90gal is pushing it, if you ask me. I can't imagine trying to put another Midas in with my 12" male, in his 75gal tank. As it is, I'd like to get him a bigger tank, the one he's in is too small.

Im not to sure about the midas, I thought they were to be a more passive relitive to the red devil, they look just like devils, and if they act like one, count out any tank mates except mabey a large pleco, my devil is in a 75g, 9" long and the most ferocius cichlid iv kept so far, killed a green terror, twice his size, when he was about 4", never tryed anything since, but judging on what he wants to do to me and anything that walks into the room, I can imagine what he would do to tank mate.

Midas are just as aggressive, if not more so, than a RD. Depends on the individual fish, of course, but as a whole, they're nasty.

That being said...pretty much all the 'midas' or 'RD' owners on the site actually own crosses of the two. Pure Devils and pure Midas are virtually unheard of in the hobby, and pretty much the only way to get one is to specifially order one through a very reputable breeder.

My Devil never got a chance to be mean. He was killed in the grow out tank by my dovii poor little guy. You would think that two 2 inch fish could get along in a 90 gallon tank but this is not the case. Moral of the story is you never know all you can do is calculate the risk and be ready to take action if problems occur.

i have my midas along with convicts, texas, salvini, butti, tilapia zilli, oscar and some other and its ok as long as nobody piss him off
