Can you train them to walk the cat?

I had read somewhere years ago, its possible to train them to respond to a bell, and to swim thru hoops (all for food of course), never tried it tho

One of my oscars has just picked up the habit of jumping out of the water and bumping his head on the aquarium top. He has wounds from it. I even droped the water level and he keeps doing it. I think he's bored. I'll have to try the ping pong ball thing. The others haven't started jumping yet but I haven't had them that long.

That's exactly why I had tried the ping pong thing.

I trained my Oscar on how not to bite the hand that feeds it. One day I was cleaning the glass and my other hand was above the water, my Oscar jumps out of the water to bite my hand and I smacked it back down into the water and as he tried to come back up again I smacked him on the head and chased him around the tank lol Now he knows better. I don't hold back on oscars I smack them when they try to bite.

I had heard you could also put those floaty-balls for fishing in the tank and that oscars would play with them, but my Marlowe ignores them. I wonder if he'd enjoy ping pongs? The only "trick" mine does is dance like a fool when I pick up one of his food containers and show it to him. i would love to get him to "fetch" balls for a tidbit of food, but while I think he's smart enough, i don't know if I can convince him to do it, heh.

I think im going to have to try the ping pong ball idea with my Flowerhorn as he seems to get very bored, do you just leave them in the tank with the fish, or just put them in for a "play time" every so often?
Its not something that i trained him to do, but if i am in the room and do not pay him at least some attention every so often, he will pick up small rocks and spit them at the glass to get my attention then stops as soon as i talk to him for a second. He also has a bad habbit of dismembering the fake plants in his tank (doesent eat them, just pulls em apart) and he will freeze and look at me if i yell for him to stop lol.

My Dovii does the same thing. I put a 5" Carpintis in his tank for him to play with. Never killed the Carpintis but the Dovii pair enjoyed terrorizing it. They would sneak up on the Carpintis and then nudge it to get it to swim and then they would chase it. Pretty entertaining. :)

lol dude thats cruel , poor carpintis!

He went in there as a punishment. He kicked the crap out of a female Carpintis, female Xilo, male Umbee, male red Texas. All were bigger than him. So he became a play toy for my Dovii. :) He is no longer in there, I finally got rid of him.
