I am thinking about trying this and just wondering if it's been done before. Many store bought backgrounds that I see for sale are nowhere close to what I would consider a realistic underwater background. The just look like jungles or random picture of a reef. They don't apply to CA sa cichlids biotopes.

Did you know that you can have a background made with your own HD/4K photograph? They also have ones already that you can pick from.

I do mostly carved 3D backgrounds in my tanks. I think you're talking about just painting a scene on the glass itself though correct? I actually did do that one time in conjunction with a 1/2 carved background in a 29g Beta tank that I did as somewhat of a Lord of The rings themed tank. Had some hand carved 3d hills and then I airbrushed a sunset on the back glass and then backlight the airbrused sunset with a pan light to make it look realistic. I'll see if I can find a pic, it's been awhile not sure if I still have a pic of that or not.

That looks sweet and im sure a lot cheaper to make than the ADA lightbox background costs to buy lol...

This is the only photo I have, and I took it as I was actually scraping out all the silicone and paint to redo this tank.

Basically I had painted the background to resemble the same plants that were in the tank.tapatalk_1519966459696.jpeg
