Anyone Try Heating An Outdoor Pond Through The Winter???

hey guys, i know that if you dig down a few meters the earths temp is around 21 degrees Celsius, at least here in SA there fore if you ran a system of pvc with fluid or gas you could heat your pond like that. Cold gas in the pipes would sink deeper, then get heated and rise, keep the pies close to the pond and the warm pipes should heat the pond. Just a theory though, ive never actually tried this.

In NJ I have a Line that goes into my basement. I then have 100' of pool vacuum hose wrapped around the furnace. During the winter I have a pump that runs the water through the hose and back out to the pond. It doesn't keep it at 75* but it doesn't freeze either.

Just forget about the outdoor pond, make an indoor pond and instead of heating the water, heat the room that its in...way cheaper/affordable

This is a common misconception. It will always take more energy to heat the room a tank is in versus heating the tank itself.

I'll see what I can do. But it's pretty self explanatory. I drilled through the cinder block. Plumbed 2 piece of 2"PVC through the wall. Put barbs on the ends. Outside I ran a hose to the one pipe. Inside I ran flex line down to the floor where I put another barb and hooked up to a 100' pool vacuum line. This is wrapped around the furnace a bunch of times and held on place by some wore hangers. I then connects a barb tithe other end of the vacuum how and flex lined up to the other barb on the wall. It helps that my furnace is approx 20' from my pond. The furnace room is small and insulated so I figured why waste the heat. The systems down ATM but I think I have a couple pics from last year when I was asked about it.

I don't under stand this? In a room its more of a constant temp vs outside the temp always changing and having to battle a steady temp
