anyone use bamboo?

ive kept bamboo in my 20 gal turtle tank for about 7 months now with no problems its also completly under water

bamboo does not rot under water, it is actually farmed and grown in fairly deep water with only the tops sticking out, if you have that whole plant it grows really fast..if you just have stalks it grows slow

I have used bamboo before, both dried out and live. have never had a problem with live bamboo, the dried out stuff does not work well at all. with the live bamboo just make sure it is not comletly submerged and it should be ok.

I agree. The bamboo will live submerged for about a year, but after that it starts rotting.

You guys may remember the other thread, but this is in fact a terrestrial plant - Dracaena sanderiana, and comes in both green, and variegated forms. It will eventually rot in time. (As you can see in some of the pictures, some is already looking pretty poorly.) But enjoy it while you can - it's nice stuff.

i had bought a bunch of bamboo for m my lfs, it looks nice, but i find it rots, ive already lost 3 of my ten stalks in as many months, i sitck them in the knots in drift wood so the are anchored down pretty good and wont be ripped out

bamboo or lucky bamboo will live in a tank dont put to much light on it it will grow green but not tall you want tall and a light green.and make sue that the water lvl isnt over the leafs it will die after a while

Nice! Can bamboo grow on sunlight? i have a 10g next to my tank i wanna do this to.. just to green the room up a little.
