hmm. not too many cod here in aus get sold to eat. it would be very uncommon so see them in a fish monger..

Cod is one of the most commonly sold fish there is in Aus,Especially northern states. But they are saltwater species.Estuary cod and Greasy cod.I know you can buy Murry Cod at the sydney fish markets and Nsw fisheries has set up stocking farms and hatcheries along with private farmers for the future with great success already.:)

Is this the same cod caught for food fish though normall in cold cold water? Great tasting fish I might add many fish restaurants have cod
How is the temperament? Can you keep other fish with it? And does it normally just lay on the bottom?

That's an interesting looking fish. Thanks for sharing. Honestly I did not know there were freshwater cod.

Not the same cod.

That's a freshwater species in the photo. The one everyone eats is saltwater.

Think we have just met the one and only Australia that doesn't continually talk!

Very interesting fish, I've never seen one.

Looks good bro

I had heard of Australian Murray Cod's ( has nothing to do with the north atlantic cod ), but had never seen pix of one so huge..it is alone in the tank, I bet...
