if they are wanting to find a home for it they should try to contact Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop they have some large tanks with some huge catfish

The area they are in is having lows in the 40s right now, so I'm sure that catfish will do well in about 3-5' of water

Apparently my phone posted 3 times lol.

That fish needs to be let go. He clearly was flourishing in the wild.

I just read that they just caught another 100lb cat fish and plan to release both back into the river

It appeared to be a blue catfish...one of two giant catfish species in North America.
